Ortler Ski Tour 16-21 April 2017
The Ortler Alps are a hidden gem crossing the divide between the Sud Tirol and classic Italy.
The Ortler has a perfect blend of fantastic huts and great skiing, it is host to some of the largest glaciers in the eastern alps and skiing on many different aspects so we can always find great snow. We plan to use the Pizzini and Branca huts as well has great hospitality they have showers so after a great ski a bowl of pasta and a hot shower awaits.
Planned itinerary: Summary details (subject to weather and other conditions.)
Day 1 15th Meet in evening Bormio hotel to be confirmed
Day 2 16th Ski to the Branca hut 2487m one of the best huts in the Alps with legendary hospitality.
Day 3 17th Ski Pizzo Tresero 3594m great Northerly desent back to the Branca hut
Day 4 18th Ski Pta S Matteo 3676m more notherly skiing back to the branca hut
Day 5 19th Ski to over Mont Pasquale and down to the Pizzini hut.
Day 6 20th Ski Monte Cevedale 3769m the most famous ski peak in the Ortler (conditions permitting)
Day 7 23rd Circuit of Col Pale Rosse then ski out to Bormio
Maps and guidebooks: Map Ortles – Cevedale which is 1:25000 Italian map in the tobacco series number 08.
Transport: Bormio isn’t the easiest place to reach so we will coordinate transport with the group to arrive in the most cost effective manner.
Bruce’s Guiding Fee works out based on numbers as 4 members £675, 5 members £540, 6 members £450.
The team will pay for the guides expenses huts etc as we go. We can run this as a kitty if that suits everyone.
